The New York Botanical Garden a National Historic Landmark and one of NYC’s premier cultural institutions seek a full-time Maintainer to join the Engineering department.
The application deadline is September 28, 2009. Written exam and interviews will be announced by invitation after application deadline and all applications have been reviewed.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Maintainer performs routine maintenance and repair of building equipment, facilities and performance of related duties such as, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry, inspect, test, and repair low and high pressure refrigeration systems, cooling towers, steam and hot water boiler plants, air distribution and controls, computerized building management systems, fire alarm system and all other HVAC related appurtenances. Keeps records and prepares reports on work performed and materials used. He/She must be able to read schematics, read equipment drawings, blueprints, use electrical meters and HVAC specific tools/equipment. Must have an understanding of psychometrics and excellent understanding of HVAC/R and electrical principals for the purpose of trouble shooting equipment.
Requirements:
• 3 to 5 years experience in general maintenance work, preferably in HVAC work.
• High School diploma or GED a plus.
• Education in HVAC/R or related field strongly preferred.
• New York State Valid driver’s license strongly preferred.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings as required.
Annual Salary: $39,177.
