Job Responsibilities
• Under the supervision of the Creative Director, you are responsible for ensuring all files are finalized and prepared for production including offset/digital printing, web development.
• Maintain open communications with Creative Director and Project Managers in regards to creative deliverables, project schedules, etc.
• Identify and resolve issues related to the design production processes. Develop best practices and communicate them to the management team for staff training and development.
• Work on production-intensive design projects including Photoshop renderings and retouching, brochure text and image layouts (InDesign) and file preparation for offline and online production.
• Work with Art Directors to generate production specs for print and online deliverables.
• Work with outside vendors on bidding/pricing of job deliverables.
• Responsible for a smooth daily management of production and creative projects between the studio and project management teams.
• Ability to maintain quality control in regards to creative deliverables and file preparation.
• Effectively manage existing and recruit new vendor relationships; manage the entire production process from file handoff, through production supervision to delivery; provide clear direct/feedback to outside vendors.
• Able to build brochure and packaging comps, assist in preparing boards for client presentation.
• Assist in the studio as needed.
• Contribute to brand standards and final documentation of projects for client hand-off.
• Maintain daily timesheet entering project time accordingly.
Competencies/Skills
• Requires a passion for formal production, a rich background in practical production experience, and a deep understanding of illustration, graphic design, typography, advertising and graphic media.
• Minimum of 5 years print production experience in an in-house Creative Services department or advertising/design agency.
• Production for websites and banners ads a plus.
• Photo retouching experience is a mandatory – beyond an intermediate level preferred.
• Mastery of print production supervision including proof reviews and press checks.
• Knowledge of pre-press set-up, papers, finishes, and printing techniques; knowledge of specialized production. of signage, packaging, and manufactured premiums and goods a definite plus.
• Requires a thorough knowledge of design production procedures and software programs utilized by the design staff, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications.
• Fluency with file formats, naming conventions, best practices for file preparation and transfer.
• Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
