POSITION OVERVIEW – SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Assist senior network & computer systems manager with performing day to day corporate helpdesk duties. The systems administrator must treat internal corporate users as Avero treats its customers, exceeding expectations for issue resolution and service. The systems administrator is responsible for maintaining corporate systems and infrastructure and for assisting corporate end users with any and all technical issues.
Must possess strong analytical skills to resolve day to day user issues. Must be able to interact well with non-technical personnel and act as a trainer to all personnel on new technologies. Candidate must be flexible, and willing to perform a variety of tasks, as assigned, to meet many challenging deadlines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for primary corporate help desk duties for end users, both onsite and remote. Support is provided via phone, email and instant messaging.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems for end users and corporate systems
• Maintain corporate server in a mixed technology environment. Technologies in use include Intel, Sun, Mac, and Cisco hardware and various operating systems including Windows, Linux, Solaris, MacOS and Cisco IOS.
• Perform routine Active Directory administration tasks including adding/removing users from the domain, setting up Microsoft Exchange mail accounts, etc…
• Install and maintain end user PCs and laptops
• Maintain corporate backups using Symantec Backup Exec
• Provide end user support for RIM Blackberry devices and administer Blackberry Enterprise Server
• Assist senior network & computer systems managers with maintaining production systems and performing system upgrades
REQUIREMENTS:
• A Bachelor’s degree and a computer science/information systems background with at least 2 years IT experience.
• Good working knowledge of various versions Microsoft Windows (Win2000, WinXP, WinServ2003).
• Microsoft Office 2007 power user.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP and general networking principles.
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2007 administration.
• Experience with industry standard backup procedures.
• Familiarity with Symantec BackupExec and corporate anti-virus packages.
• Aptitude to be the first point of contact for corporate IT helpdesk.
• Ability to independently research a problem using available resources, such as manuals, training materials and the Internet
• Non-Technical Requirements:
o Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written a MUST.
o Possess versatile leadership qualities and the ability to manage change.
o Demonstrate self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm.
o Present ideas, expectations and information in a concise, well-organized way.
o Manage time well, correctly prioritizing tasks.
o Familiarity with support ticketing process is a plus.
o Establish, measure and effectively evaluate processes, policies and procedures.
o Ability to manage processes and associate relationships in multiple locations.
• Experience in following aspects is a plus:
o Microsoft Visio and Project
o Oracle Client installation / configuration
o Perforce SCM
o CentOS / Redhat ES 4/5 Linux
o MS VPN
Compensation: $50,000-60,000
