Our client, a major science and technology company is currently seeking Senior * Systems Engineer to work within Petrotechnical Support Team in Aberdeen. Main duties and responsibilities are to provide support for wide range of Geoscience and Petroleum Engineering software applications. Duties include - To work in multi-vendor petro-technical service delivery environment, providing application support for range of GeoScience and petroleum engineering software applications - To respond to GeoScience and petroleum engineering application problems within contractual service levels; to advise user community on appropriate usage of applications - To effectively liaise with software vendors in developing strong vendor relations - To perform regular upgrades to existing applications portfolio and installation of new GeoScience and petroleum engineering applications to maintain application portfolio with latest commercial releases of software and industry best practice - To provide operational license management for applications portfolio - GeoScience applications portfolio project work - To provide UNIX shell scripting and basic UNIX, PC and NT (ThinClient) support.
Candidates MUST possess - Flexibility and willingness to work onsite or at customer sites throughout UK - Knowledge and experience in support and use of two or more mainstream Petrotechnical applications - Good UNIX skills with experience of shell scripting*programming and systems administration - Good understanding of oil industry?s exploration and production lifecycle, coupled to appreciation of effect this has on professional explorationists.
Experience of following desirable - Knowledge supporting: OpenWorks, Geoprobe, VIP, Geolog, RMS, Earthvision - Knowledge of Windows NT (standalone, networked) and Citrix Metaframe environment (ThinClient) - Knowledge of operational software licensing utilising FlexLM and SamSuite products - Knowledge in support of load balancing software: SGE, LSF.
Earth Science or related degree preferred, but industry experience will be considered as alternative.
